This Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, we begin our journey through Lent. The season of Lent reminds us of the renewal that came through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Lent is a time to prepare for the coming of Easter and to celebrate the gift of redemption. Lent is also a time to search for ways we can be part of God’s work of redemption and renewal in our world.  During this season, in an intentional way, we are confronted with our own mortality and confess our sins before God.  And at the same time we are reminded of our common humanity, our common brokenness and the reality that we cannot save our selves.  In the words of Megan McKenna:  “Lent is the springtime of the souls.  Relent.  Repent. Remember. Resist.  Repair the world.  Refuse to be mastered by sin.  Be reformed in the image of God, who is Jesus Christ the Lord.”

This year there are a few ways in which you are invited to be intentional about having a rhythm and discipline to your Lenten observance: The Lenten prayer book with reflections from people in our community, the Lenten prayer retreats on Feb. 27 and March 27 as well as our Holy Week services.
